Color and Appearance

Afyon Grey Marble has a very light cool-grey background with fine blue-grey speckling throughout the surface. The movement is soft and cloudy rather than strongly veined or dramatic. In dry, unsealed product photos, the sandblasted finish can make the stone look lighter, softer, and more matte than it will appear after sealing.

Because this is natural marble, expect variation from piece to piece. Some pieces may read closer to soft white-grey, while others may show more blue-grey tone or slightly deeper cloudy movement. Blend material from multiple crates during installation so the finished surface looks balanced.

Improved Sandblasted Outdoor Finish

Afyon Grey is produced with a sandblasted outdoor finish. Compared with smoother indoor marble finishes, the sandblasted surface gives the stone a matte, lightly textured face that is better suited for exterior pool and hardscape applications.

The improved sandblasting method is intended to create a more practical outdoor surface for pool decks, coping, patios, steps, and wall caps. No natural stone surface should be treated as slip-proof. Final performance still depends on slope, drainage, installation method, cleaning, sealing, pool chemistry, and site conditions.

Sealing and Final Color

Afyon Grey Marble should be sealed for outdoor use. A standard penetrating stone sealer will usually darken and deepen the color compared with the dry, unsealed sandblasted surface. This is expected and should be reviewed with a sample before the material is approved for a project.

If the project needs a stronger grey or blue-grey appearance, a color-enhancing sealer can be tested. Enhancers can bring out more depth, contrast, and blue-grey tone, but they can also change the final appearance more noticeably than a standard sealer. Always test the exact sealer or enhancer on a sample piece before installation.

Current Product Direction

The Afyon Grey Marble collection is being prepared with sandblasted pavers, pool coping, oversized treads, wall-cap formats, splitface veneer, and ledger panels. Planned paver formats include French Pattern, 16x24, 24x24, and 24x36. Coping and cap formats include standard 12x24, 14x24, 16x24, larger 24x24 and 24x36 pieces, long 12x48, 14x48, 16x48, and 24x48 options, plus 24x72 treads.

Afyon Grey vs. Arctic Grey Marble

Afyon Grey and Arctic Grey both sit in the light grey marble family, but Afyon Grey is intended to be the newer replacement direction. Afyon Grey has a softer light-grey background, fine blue-grey speckling, and a calmer cloudy appearance. Arctic Grey may read slightly different depending on batch, finish, and sealer.

If a project was originally designed around Arctic Grey, compare Afyon Grey samples in both dry and sealed conditions before confirming the substitution.
