Care and Planning

For exterior marble pavers, confirm site drainage, base preparation, slope, joint spacing, sealing plan, and current stock before installation. Blend pieces during installation to manage natural stone variation.

Required Exterior Marble Installation

STONELUX installation requirement: Do not dry-lay this marble paver or install it directly over sand, gravel, aggregate, stone dust, soil, or turf. Install it over a properly designed, cured concrete slab or approved cementitious substrate using an exterior-rated wet-set mortar system or white polymer-modified thin-set or large-and-heavy-tile mortar approved for natural stone.

Require full mortar coverage and plan slope, drainage, movement joints, waterproofing where applicable, and all transitions before work begins. Moisture moving through an unsuitable substrate or setting system can contribute to staining or efflorescence in marble and other light stone. Sealing Exterior Marble

All exterior marble supplied by STONELUX must be sealed after installation and the setting system's required cure time. Use a sealer compatible with the marble, finish, exposure, and desired appearance. STONELUX recommends TERATONE 467 Color Enhancing Deep Penetrating Protector for compatible unfinished or sandblasted marble when a richer color and satin appearance are desired. Review the TERATONE manufacturer guidance, test a small inconspicuous area first, avoid overapplication, and follow all label directions. Sealer does not replace correct substrate preparation, drainage, waterproofing, or maintenance.
